Hormone imbalance may also be the result of toxins or the lifestyle we live in today. Hormone fluctuations happen naturally in puberty, pre-menopause, and menopause. It is important to understand the causes of the hormone imbalance to be cautious to prevent it and feel healthy in mind and body.

Some of the important hormones in the human body are Insulin, Testosterone, Estrogen and Progesterone, and Cortisol. The hormones are in a fragile stasis that if you have a little less or more several symptoms of hormonal imbalance can result.

A decreased level of estrogen in the women and low levels of testosterone in the men. As the women reach the menopause stage the estrogen balance gets disturbed. After fifty years of age, the men too have a drop in their testosterone levels. This is called male menopause.

Being stressed for a long time causes fatigue of the adrenal glands that result in the inadequate production of cortisol. This affects intellectual activities such as focus and memory.


6. Weight Gain:

Hormonal imbalance causes weight gain in some people. Weight gain particularly in and around the abdomen is a very familiar and typical problem and a very baffling one. The most familiar and known culprits among the hormones that increase weight are cortisol and insulin.

When the amount of hormones is above the normal level they message the body that it requires more glucose and stock it as fat normally on the stomach.


Emotional issues like irritability, mood swings, depression, and anxiety are prevalent syndromes of hormonal imbalance of progesterone and estrogen levels that are very high or very low.
